The Temecula Public Cemetery on C Street has served the valley since 1884, when Mercedes Pujol donated the land as a public burial ground. Today it's an independent public cemetery district — which means it sets its own marker rules, installs every marker itself, and by policy does not sell markers. Families buy from an outside company like us.

Every cemetery district sets its own marker regulations. Here is what we know about Temecula Public Cemetery District (see the district's own site for source documents):

- Inscriptions may include names, dates, military branch and service dates, a photograph (except columbarium), and an epitaph up to 100 characters (Policy 5030.10)
- Only district personnel install markers; the district's setting fee (currently $370 per the FY 2025–26 fee schedule) is paid to the district
- Markers may be purchased from any private vendor that meets the policy specs — the district itself does not sell markers (Policy 5030.02)
- A lawn-mower-proof edge is required; concrete borders are optional, at the family's discretion
- Markers must be placed within 90 days of interment (Policy 5030.01)

What size grave marker does the Temecula cemetery allow?
It depends on the garden. The district's Policy 5030.08 specifies 16″ × 28″ for the Garden of Peace, Garden of Hope, Garden of Memories, and the vaulted part of Tranquil Gardens. Tranquil, Serenity, and Eternal Gardens accept flat markers from 12″ × 24″ up to 18″ × 36″. Cremation ground burials use 8″ × 11″ markers. Can I buy a marker from someone other than the cemetery?
Yes — you must, actually. Temecula Public Cemetery District policy 5030.02 says markers may be purchased from any private vendor meeting their specifications; the district does not sell markers.
