Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Promise Trade Services, Inc., doing business as SoCal Monuments and Engraving (“we,” “us”). They cover socalmonuments.com and every marker ordered from us. We wrote them in plain language. If anything is unclear, call us at (951) 234-0199 before you order.

How an order works

  1. You design a marker on the site, or tell us about the person and we design it.
  2. We send you a proof. Nothing is engraved until you approve it.
  3. You approve the proof on your private order page. Your typed name is your signature, and we record the date and time.
  4. We invoice you. Production starts when payment is received.
  5. We engrave, deliver, and install according to your cemetery’s rules.

Proofs and corrections

Please check every name, date, and word on the proof. Once you approve, the marker is cut exactly as shown. Corrections requested before approval are free and unlimited. A change after approval may require a new stone at additional cost, because granite cannot be un-engraved.

Approving a proof (electronic signature)

  • When you type your name and approve a proof online, you are signing electronically. Your electronic signature counts the same as a handwritten one.
  • By approving online, you agree to do business with us electronically. You can ask for a paper copy, or to handle approval another way, by calling or emailing us.
  • Your approval means the names, dates, spelling, and layout on the proof are correct, and it authorizes us to engrave the marker exactly as shown.
  • You can download the approved proof from your private tracking page.
  • We keep a record of each approval: the name you typed, the date and time, your IP address and browser, and which proof you approved.

Prices and payment

Prices shown on the site are complete for the marker as described, plus applicable sales tax. We never charge per letter or per design. Your invoice states the total. Payment is due before production begins, by the method shown on the invoice.

Cemetery rules and installation

Each cemetery sets its own size, material, and setting rules and may charge its own fees. We build to those rules and will tell you if a design has to change. Installation timing depends on the cemetery’s schedule and the weather.

Stone is natural

Granite color and grain vary from piece to piece. Photos on this site are examples of each color, not the exact stone you will receive. We will not deliver a stone with a crack or defect, but natural variation is not a defect.

Cancellations and refunds

Every marker is custom-made for one person. You may cancel at no charge any time before you approve a proof. After approval and payment, the stone is ordered and cut for you; we will refund whatever has not yet been spent on your marker.

If something is our mistake, such as a misspelling we introduced or a defect in the stone or engraving, we fix it or remake the marker at no cost to you.

Email and calls

By giving us your email or phone number, you agree that we may contact you about your order by email or phone call. Calls to and from our business line may be recorded, transcribed, and summarized for our records. How we handle your information is in our privacy policy.

Text message terms

  • Program: SoCal Monuments and Engraving order updates.
  • What we text: proofs, approval confirmations, delivery and installation updates, and replies to your questions. No marketing texts.
  • Texting is optional. You agree by checking the optional texting box on our forms or by texting us first. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to stop. We will send one message confirming you are unsubscribed, then no more texts. We also honor a stop request made any other reasonable way, such as telling us by phone or email.
  • Reply HELP for help, or call (951) 234-0199 or email info@socalmonuments.com.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Photos and materials you send

When you send us photos, artwork, or wording, you confirm that you own them or have permission to use them. You give us permission to use them only to make your marker. We will not use your marker, names, or photos in our marketing without your separate permission.

Copyright (DMCA)

If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, send our designated agent a written notice (17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3)) that includes:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • the copyrighted work you believe was infringed;
  • the material on our site you believe infringes it, and where it is;
  • your name, address, phone number, and email;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Our guarantee (limited warranty)

We stand behind our work. If a marker leaves us with a mistake we made, we fix it or replace it.

This does not limit any rights you have under California law.

Limits of our responsibility

Except where the law does not allow it, our responsibility for any claim about a marker is limited to the amount you paid for that marker. We are not responsible for delays or damage caused by the cemetery, the freight carrier, or events outside our control.

Reviews and feedback

You are always free to share your honest opinion of us, anywhere.

If we disagree

Please call or email us first; most problems can be fixed with a conversation. If we cannot resolve it, either of us may take the matter to court, including small claims court. These terms are governed by California law.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page. The terms in effect when you approved your proof apply to your order.
